KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Carry out meter installation, replacement, disconnection, reconnection according to technical standards and safety requirements.

• Explain technical findings, meter-related issues, installation requirements, and safety matters to customers professionally.

• Inspect meter installations for accuracy, safety, tampering, wiring defects, and compliance with standards. Conduct testing when required.

• Perform meter removal or meter accuracy test upon customer request.

• Detect meter tampering, illegal connections, and electricity theft.

• Comply with electrical safety procedures, permit-to-work requirements, PPE usage, risk assessments, and safe work practices.

• Record work completed, meter serial numbers, photographs, GPS coordinates, and update SAP/MAARTS/MMMS accurately.

• Safeguard meters, seals, tools (MMMS), testing equipment and vehicles. Report damaged or defective assets.

• Participate in technical training, competency assessments, daily briefing, and improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

1. Analyse technical issues using electrical knowledge, field observations, and diagnostic tools.

2. Balance safety, operational efficiency, customer service, and regulatory compliance when making decisions.

3. Resolve unforeseen field conditions with minimal supervision while adhering to established procedures.

4. Escalate complex technical, legal, or safety issues when they exceed delegated authority.

5. Recommend improvements to work processes, metering practices, and equipment reliability based on operational experience.

QUALIFICATION & WORK EXPERIENCE (KNOW-HOW):

1. Certification or Diploma in Electrical Engineering

• SKILLSAdequate knowledge of the Sarawak Electricity Ordinance, Electricity Rules, and Regulations.

• Experienced and knowledgeable of the Standard Practices for Electrical Installation, Engineering Circulars, Retail Circulars, etc.

• Good communication and presentation skills (written & verbal) and able to work in detail with figures.

• Well educated with various types of energy meter used in the system.

• Knowledgeable in IEEE wirings installations and distribution power flow to check for possible energy theft.

• Understand the use of SAP system & conversant with equipment used in daily operation.
• Possess both analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Professional Competence and Due Care to self and other technicians.
